You read it right. How do you change the world? Do you think it’s beyond your reach? Yes? I would say No! To change the world, all you need is to make an impact on the world – a strong impact, strong enough to turn things around and add lot of value to people around you.  The word here is your impact or personal impact.

What is personal impact?

Personal impact is the result of your actions that affect people around you.  The way you act and react, leaves an impression and an imprint on people you interact with. This imprint can be positive or negative.  Again, personal impact is the result. Personal impact is not what you bring to the table; it is the result of what you bring to the table.

Who do you impact?

Who do you impact? Have you given it a thought? We all impact someone somewhere. It is just that the strength of that impact varies. People like Einstein and Gandhi have impacted the entire mankind – Einstein by creating numerous inventions and Gandhi by his ideology of non-violence. They created a legacy. People like you and me may not be able to make that big impact, yet. But, we all do make an impact.

Impact can be as huge as these two men did, or it could be a small act of adding value to someone you know. You can impact someone positively or negatively.

What kind of impact is it?

If you were to disappear today, who, do you think, will miss you? Besides your family, who are the people, who would want you to be back as soon as possible? Think about everyone around you – your colleagues, your boss, your customers, your audience and anyone you can think of. Do you think, they would want you back? If the answer is yes, you have impacted these people in a positive way.

On the other hand, there maybe people who will not even realize that you are missing or who won’t care where you are. These are the people who are untouched by you. You have no impact on these individuals.

Then, there are the third kinds. These people will be happy that you are gone.  They won’t like you to be back and will be relaxed that you are gone. You get the idea! If there is something called negative impact, these people have felt it. You have negatively impacted these folks.

How do you make an impact?

How do you make an impact on people around you? By adding some value to their lives… changing the world of one person at a time…

Do you think it is possible? Still think it is impractical? What are your thoughts? Share it with us, below in the comments.
